Retreat 2025 Main Sessions

Picture
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:14

Main Sessions kick off each morning after devotions and each afternoon following our chuckwagon luncheon. They are held in the main room for all attendees. A total of four Main Sessions will address this year’s 2025 writing focus for Pioneers with Pens to HIT THE MARK!
FridayAM Session 1: Pioneers with Pens Hit the Mark!
Instructor: Kathryn Ross

The initial Friday morning session lays a critical foundation for our 2-day retreat/workshop. Miss Kathy reviews the pioneer spirit of a writer to commit their writing life vision to a journey with excellence. She introduces our 2025 metaphorical theme where pioneers explore the bowman’s craft as our pens become arrows in search of the center point of our target writing and publishing goals on many fronts. Learn a quiver full of archery terms and discover how to choose your arrows wisely.
FridayPM Session 2: Basic Training on the Field
Instructors: Trish Weldon and Ariel Allonardo
Trish Weldon brings a cautionary tale of what not to do when shooting arrows into the air. Where they land, you may know not—and that can be a disaster! In Part One of this session, some practical basic training is presented before we venture onto the field outside for Part Two with archery aficionado Ariel Allonardo. She will demonstrate best practices and incorporate interactive elements to her demonstration for all to participate.
SaturdayAM Session 3: Aim and Release: Steward Your Story
Instructors: Kathryn Ross

What we aim at in every aspect of our writing life is key. Be sure you know how to steward your writer's aim to release on target to hit the mark! More interactive fun with some “target practice” applying what we’ve learned to the nitty gritty of writing disciplines, story outlines, self-editing, research, and more as we all are challenged to aim well then release!
SaturdayPM Session 4: This Little Writer Went to Market
Instructor: Pam Halter

Marketing. What authors dread the most about writing. In this session, author, Pam Halter, will break down marketing so it’s easy to understand, and it might even be fun! We’ll learn what marketing is and help you fill your quiver with the right marketing arrowheads for you! If there’s time, we’ll brainstorm ideas for marketing your published book or work in progress. It’s never too early to market that story
SaturdayPM Closing: Show & Tell Mission Statement and Commitment
Instructor: Kathryn Ross and the Pioneers with Pens Retreat Staff

Closing out the day on Saturday, our Pioneers with Pens gather in the main room. You may volunteer to share your Mission Statement and Vision Board in the Show & Tell Testimony finale before Miss Kathy wraps things up with a special prophetic word of commissioning. Prayer ministry follows as you are launched into your calling to pursue a new level of excellence in your assignment and stay connected and accountable on your writing journey for the words God has entrusted you to write. Please don’t forget to drop off your Evaluation Form of the retreat and Restoration Family Farm.

PIONEERS WITH PENS RETREAT WORKSHOPS MISSION STATEMENT:
