ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Ed Ross had nurtured his love of books and reading from the day his kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Quackenbush, first read The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss to him.
As a child of the mid-20th century, his captivation with the Wild West and reputation as a class clown put him soundly on the storytelling trail. These key elements of his early life laid the foundation for what God would develop in him to make an impact on lives for the Kingdom of God.
With good humor, quick wit, and high energy, Ed stepped comfortably into his Wild West storytelling personae of gold prospector, Clementine Jones in 1986. His engaging enthusiasm invited young and old into Clementine’s story world, fulfilling his desire to teach God’s Word in his home church. Word spread, and Clementine’s story ministry in Sunday schools and church family nights kept him busy throughout Southern New Jersey for the next 37 years.
Ed’s story roster grew as he transplanted the Bible stories and biblical principles he unearthed in personal study onto the metaphorical stage of the iconic American West. In addition, Ed’s love for discipleship and Bible teaching kept him busy through the years serving in local South Jersey churches as deacon, Sunday School superintendent, and Children’s Church lead teacher.
He enjoyed over 30 years as a career bookseller with an expertise in the history of Bible translations, translators, and publishers. He was a sought-after advisor for help in choosing the best fit from various editions of the Bible designed for study, devotions, and age groups.
Ed and his alter ego Clementine relocated to a log cabin on streets paved with gold on September 19, 2022. But his legacy of spending a lifetime of Gold Nuggets “diggin’ in God’s Word” will live on in the earth and continue to bless others through the Gold Nugget Chronicles chapter book series. These published works, stewarded through the hands of his wife, ministry partner, and beloved Miss Wanda, was always a dream of his that he now enjoys from a Heavenly perspective.
“Well done, good and faithful servant . . . Enter into the joy of your lord.” Matthew 25:21 NKJV
Kathryn “Miss Kathy” Ross has inspired a love of God through the power of story, delighting family audiences throughout Southern New Jersey for over 20 years as owner of Pageant Wagon Productions, LLC. She ministered literacy and Christian living principles in schools, churches, women’s groups, and community events through unique enrichment speaking and teaching programs.
A generation of moms and children knew her best as Miss Kathy with Tale Spin Stories, a weekly story time performed at center court in Cumberland Mall, Vineland NJ for seven years, until she transitioned into independent publishing with her first Fable Springs Parables picture book in 2013.
Trained in Principle Approach Education®, through methodologies from the Foundation for American Christian Education, Miss Kathy previously taught in Christian & home school settings, in addition to serving the church as children’s pastor, curriculum writer, and drama ministry director. Miss Kathy’s inspirational works and discipleship tools have been developed through the years, designed to enrich multi-generational audiences—because teaching and learning and good stories are for children of all ages!
Her Wanda Wordwise storytelling character was created in the mid-1990’s as a teaching tool in children’s ministry. That was also around the time she created the story world of a young boy named Ollie who discovers a Secret Place in an abandoned treehouse where he learns to hear God’s voice.
Miss Wanda and Clementine married in 2004—when Ed and Kathryn married. For 19 years they enjoyed expanding Clementine’s world of biblical storytelling together.
Currently, Kathryn Ross works as an author, speaker, book shepherd, and writing mentor through Pageant Wagon Publishing. She helps Christian women write their book— telling His Story through their story—and tools them for speaking ministry with writing, editing, and publishing services.
