                   He Wondered as He Wandered:
Reflections on Birds, Butterflies, and Battles
                                     with Depression

                         from a Marshland Naturalist

. . . is a collection of David Lord's nature writings culled from his hundreds of birding tours in Southern New Jersey, treks out West, travels in Europe, and more. His ability to see the character of God in Creation provided a respite for his restless spirit. The insights he gained pour from his heart in these short devotional thoughts.

David's battle with depression and thoughts of suicide are detailed in chapters contributed by those who knew him well. Their insights empower the words he left behind with a legacy of life for those who love birds and butterflies—and may battle as he did.

David’s family has published this scrapbook memoir as a guide to inform your spirit and imagination, drawing you nearer to God—wondering as you wander. David's original nature photography and resources to assist you or someone you love who may be battling depression and associated issues are also included.

The Lord family hopes to give wings to his life legacy. In addition, the book features birding and nature resources throughout the Pinelands and marshes in Southern New Jersey, plus more--including a critical chapter written by Dr. Ronald Newman addressing suicide awareness, depression, and perfectionism.

Those who seek peace in the glories of nature will be inspired.
Those who grieve in loss will be encouraged.

Those who battle as David did will find strength to embrace LIFE.
